Counseling & Recovery Services of Oklahoma operates a Holiday Giving Program that has provided Christmas gifts to hundreds of Tulsa-area families and children since 2018. Families served by CRSOK can be referred to the program, and community members can adopt a child or family for the holidays.

John 3:16 Mission serves holiday meals at its downtown shelter at 506 N. Cheyenne Ave. and distributes Christmas food boxes through its Family & Youth Center at 2027 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The Mission relies on community donations of frozen turkeys, hams, and nonperishable items collected throughout November and December.
Iron Gate serves a daily community meal every day of the year, including Christmas Day, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at its downtown Tulsa location. Iron Gate also operates a grocery pantry on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for families needing additional food support during the holidays. Pre-registration is required for the pantry.
The Salvation Army Center of Hope at 102 N. Denver Ave. in Tulsa typically serves a free Christmas Day meal and provides holiday food assistance to families in need. The Salvation Army also operates Red Kettle and Angel Tree programs throughout the season.
The Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma supplies hundreds of partner food pantries across 24 counties of eastern Oklahoma, including Tulsa County. Families can use the online food finder by entering a ZIP code to locate the closest pantry for holiday groceries.
Tulsa offers a full calendar of free and low-cost family Christmas events, from downtown traditions to drive-thru light displays. Schools are typically out from late December through early January, giving families plenty of time to explore.
Arvest Winterfest at the BOK Center is one of Tulsa’s longest-running holiday traditions, featuring an outdoor ice rink, horse-drawn carriage rides, the Winterfest Express train, live music, and one of the state’s tallest Christmas trees. Admission to the Winterfest area is free; skating and other activities are paid.
